Purple, Glitter & Sigma Animal Inspired Makeup

I haven't updated this lately & so this post will consist of two looks.
The following look was a pretty simple makeup look that I did for my first 'live' tutorial on Youtube. I used GDE, NYX, and Milani Minerals for that look. The lighting, angles, & quality in that vid. were not great but i'm slowly learning.

This second look was for a Sigma makeup contest on Youtube, which was also a live tutorial. The theme of the contest was animals-any type of animal-so I chose the Parrot Fish. I was inspired by its colors & circle spots. I had recently seen a makeup photo done by the MUA Dana Delaney which consisted of a circle like pattern similar to mine, which also inspired me.

This was my rough draft/sketch of my idea. I have been doing this lately to have a guide while actually doing the makeup. There have been so many times when my makeup turned out completely different than what I had in mind.

Products used for this look:

Garage sale stickers+hole puncher
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Still Glamorus Cosmetics blush 'Bubble Gum'
Spell Cosmetics loose shadow 'Manic'
Bright, matte yellow from WALES palette
Mac e/s 'Rule'
Hot pink & light pink e/s from palette
Mac 'Wondergrass' & 'Eye popping' e/s
White matte e/s from palette
Mac blacktrack fluidline
Paji lashes (I got two pairs from the 99 cent store)
Mac 'Morange' l/s
Sigma, Mary Kay, & Costco makeup brushes

And lastly, these were my nails from last week. I was really happy with how they turned out.

Shimmer Overload

I was bored the other day after I returned from school, which was my last day & I was only there for an hour to go to my last art class and recieve my graduation cap/gown. After I got home I decided to use some makeup products that I recieved a few months ago from the contests that I had won with Tknokitten & Stillglamorus on YouTube. I had a lot of Glamour Doll Eye as well as StillGlamorus Cosmetics, Spell Cosmetics (which I am very impressed with, btw), and some Barry M Cosmetics to use....

I wasn't too happy with how this came out but I figured i'd post it anyway. Pretty much all of the pigments were shimmery, especially the GDE ones, so that's why I named this "Shimmer Overload." Shimmer doesn't photograph well so it was very difficult to get good photos. The shadows were also a bit difficult to blend; I always find shimmery shadows to be more difficult even though I often hear people say they struggle with matte shadows.

Which are easier to blend, in your opinion

(matte or shimmer eye shadows?)

Old look-BBB

So this is an old makeup look of mine that I did last year but it is still one of my favorites. I did this for a 'Lush inspired' makeup contest on Youtube. I was inspired by the retro bath bomb
"Bon Bain Bonnard" from Lush . A lot of people asked how I created the "splatter" effect. I used a wide, flat paint brush dipped in pigment & moisturizer (which acted as a 'mixing medium')and did flicking motions with the brush. And also I used a Mac shadestick for my liner. I've been wanting to do another look using this "splatter" technique but with different colors...Will do eventually.

My Clarisonic Review

My birthday was in April and the only thing I asked for was a Clarisonic. I decided to order the Clarisonic Classic since I wanted it for home use (didn't need it for travel) and for use on my face only. With it, I recieved two brush heads (sensitive & normal) and all three cleansers. So I had read a lot of good reviews on it which also mentioned fast results and notice of difference after the first use. I mainly hoped the product would get rid of blackheads and oil buildup on my T-zone, especially my nose.

^ I ordered the pink one & got my name engraved on it (though it is more like a rubber type sticker than an actual engravement)

After my first use I wasn't very impressed, my face felt clean, but not as clean as I felt it could be. I used the sensitive brush for about a week and then switched to the normal brush head, which did work somewhat better. I used the product twice a day and noticed my skin became a little dry in certain areas (I have oily skin, btw) yet my T-zone still remained super oily as usual & the product claims to help with oily skin (but then again, maybe I didn't use it for a long enough period of time). I also noticed I started getting many tiny little pimples and so I thought maybe my skin didn't like the cleanser sooo I switched back to my normal cleanser (Mario Badescu). So like I said, I was hoping the Clarisonic would help get rid and prevent black heads & grime but it did nothing for that at all. I did notice an improvement in my cheeks, however, but that was not my concern/problem area. I guess I thought the product would work more as an exfoliator and would be, harsher, I guess, in order to fully remove oil & makeup buildup. I also felt that the oscillating brush did nothing. I felt the product was as effective without the oscillation on. I also feel that the brush may have been more effective if it spun instead of oscillating. So after a few weeks I knew I had to decide if I was going to keep the product or return it (because there is a 30 return policy) and I decided to return it because the price I paid for the product (about $200) and results just weren't matching up. Now had I been able to use the product for longer than the 30 days, maybe I would have noticed more benefits, but it wasn't worth the risk. I wish Clarisonic would make it a 60 day return policy so maybe I would have been able to use it longer and see more results & thus not have had to ship it back. So anyway, I guess my point of this review is to say if you're looking to get rid of blackheads and buildup from oil, this probably isn't the product for you.

Something positive though, I did have a good shipping & customer service experience with the company. The product shipped here (CA) from WA in less than a week. And also Clarisonic is very helpful on their Twitter account & responded to me whether I had a question or comment.

Prize haul & thanks to tknokitten on YT

So in February I won Tknokitten's makeup contest on YouTube in which I did a "sultry" Valentine's Day look. I've recieved all of the prizes now & so this is a thank you to her and the sponsors from that contest, I appreciate it! : )

One of the items I recieved was the pink professional brush kit from Sigma Makeup, which I thought was very generous so thank you Sigma!

My sister thought it would be funny to use the powder brush as a microphone. She was also very excited to open the package when it came in the mail, probably more excited than I was, hah.

This was the makeup look:

Colorful Makeup Look

This is the makeup I came up with for StillGLAMORUS's YouTube contest. It was supposed to be colorful w/ the option of doing a design in the eye/lip area only... I was inspired by this little sketch that I came up with. The little inversely shaded circle design ended up reminding me of bullet holes or something, haha. This look ended up taking a long time, a few hours... I was getting impatient, especially since I had to show the steps I did. I don't know how some of you YouTube gurus do it! Hah.

Most of the eye colors used were from my WALES palette except for the orange which was NYX Golden OrangeI also used Mary Kay eye primer, MAC Blacktrack fluidline, Rimmel London blue eye kohl, MAC Hello Kitty Tippy blush on my cheeks and Salon Perfect 45 Black lashes.

Valentine's Day Makeup & Nails

This is the "sultry" look I did for Tknokitten's Valentine's Day contest on YouTube. I used neutral colors & glitter on the eyes and a little pink on the cheeks & lips. This actually reminds me a lot of a look I did inspired by my dog, Coco, a while ago.

Products used:

Eyes:

Mary Kay (MK) e/s primer
L'Oreal wear infinite e/s '825 Gilded Bronze'
MK e/s 'Golden'
NYX e/s 'E509 Deep Bronze'
Lash Grip adhesive
Emani Minerals glitter '815 Fever'
Mac Blacktrack f/l
Salon Perfect false lashes #45
MK waterproof mascara
NYX jumbo e/s pencil 'Milk'

Cheeks:

Colorworks blush 'Bronze'
Mac Hello Kitty blush 'Tippy'

Lips:

NYX l/l 'Barbie Pink'
Sephora lip gloss 'Precious Pink'

These were my nails. For the lips, I followed JulieG's tutorial on YouTube. I had been wanting a non-shimmer baby pink nail color and bought this Wet n Wild one at Rite Aid for .99. It's so pretty but chips really easily, but then again, I didn't expect amazing quality for something less than a dollar.

WetnWild Wild Shine '451C flirty rose creme'
L.A. Colors Art Deco glittery red
